WOMEN AT WORK
Sameeng Provision Store, Chalai Bazaar, Trivandrum, South India
Women shop for food every day in small shops that specialize in
a narrow range of produce. The store owner usually sits inside,
watching the cash box; an assistant, perhaps a young relative,
assists the customer. Buying half a kilo of potatoes can take a
large part of the morning.
