WOMEN AT WORK
Festival Singers, Trivandrum, South India
On a narrow lane, barely the width of a single car, temple authorities
set up a platform for three women to sing during a weeklong festival
for the temple deity. Dedicated to Kali, the temple (not visible
here) is no larger than a small room, but well kept and popular
with early morning workers. The temple is built up against the
compound wall of a private home, leaving just enough room for a
car to squeak by.
