Welcome to my first-ever newsletter, the one I've been avoiding for almost thirty years. I promise to keep these short and occasional.
But I do have something exciting to share.
My third Ginny Means short story is in the November/December 2022 issue of Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. In "The Deacon's Mistake" Ginny questions a priest's interest in a young parishioner. And after that you can read some stellar fiction by Jeffrey Marks, Mark Thielman, Chris Mueesig, Janice Law, James Tipton, Elliot Sweeney, O'Neill De Noux, Eve Fisher, Dave Zeltserman, Leigh Lundin, Dayle A. Dermatis, Jane K. Cleland, and Pamela Blackwood. And if that's not enough try the reviews by Laurel Flores Fantauzzo, and then Case Files by Lee Lofland.
This is also a thank-you note to the many librarians and readers who have asked when they'll see Anita Ray again. I'm glad to report that the fifth Anita Ray full-length mystery is now out. Anita and Auntie Meena have their hands full with a tour group from the States that just doesn't act like a bunch of tourists should. Things get worse when the tour leader is found dead. Auntie Meena is terrified the hotel will now be haunted by the man's angry spirit. But in the end all works out, of course, and for one tourist there's a very special ending.
Despite the unseasonable warmth through October and predicted for the first part of November, we really are gearing up for colder weather. In our house this means that the dog no longer seeks the kitchen floor, with its cool tiles, for his nap. He can now be found on the sofa.
It's also a time to appreciate the fall colors. Enjoy the season. Take a walk. Bake a pumpkin pie. Rake leaves and jump into a large, soft pile. Plant bulbs. Sit on the porch with a cup of hot tea and watch the moon rise.
